Safety

Safety at Brisbane Shotokan.

We take safety very seriously at Brisbane Shotokan, so you can keep coming back and continue to enjoy training!

Here are some of the ways that Brisbane Shotokan Karate is looking out for your (or your child’s) safety in the dojo;

  • Prior to the commencement of class, the Instructor does a walk around the dojo to check the floors are clear of obstructions, or hazards, such as water or sharp objects etc. The venues are a shared community facility, so it’s important there are no trip/slip hazards.
  • A first aid kit is available at every class and the Instructors maintain First Aid qualifications.
  • Instructors have current Working with Children Clearance/ Blue Card.
  • Instructors attend multiple training seminars every year and keep up to date on the latest training methods and techniques.
  • Jiyu Kumite (free sparring) training is done under supervision and in a controlled manner
  • Instructors will not leave the dojo until all children have been collected by their parents. Parents are encouraged to come into the dojo and pick up their children and are always welcome to come and watch the training session.
